"Nursing is an art; and if it is made an art,it requires an exclusive devotion, as any painter's or sculptor's work; for what is the having to do with dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God's spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts; I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts."
-Florence Nightingale
Introduction
In the past, the nurse was simply a person trained to perform specific task. Later, nursing was recognized as a professional demanded quality care. Today’s nurse is also influenced by consumer’s awareness, patients rights’, rising health care costs, health promotion and evidence based practice. Nursing is growing with current trends and technology.A nurse is a healthcare professional who is focused on caring for individuals, families, and communities, ensuring that they attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and functioning.
Nurses are capable of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care independently of physicians, and they provide support from basic triage to emergency surgery.
Patient care is the main focus of this modern world and nurses play a vital role in health care system. Therefore competent nurses are in demand all over the world. According to a recent survey in the United States there is a requirement of one million nurses for the next five year. We are proud to say that candidates from our Netaji Subhas National Youth school of Nursing and Paramedical will be part of this global phenomenon.
